Young Henrys partners with University of Technology in Sydney

Australian craft brewery, Young Henrys, partnered with scientists from the University of Technology in Sydney to determine how to capture the CO2 generated during beer fermentation in a more efficient and effective way. Their solution involves two “bioreactors” filled with trillions of micro-algae, that absorb the CO2, reproducing and transforming it into oxygen. Each bioreactor produces as much oxygen as two hectares of bushland. Furthermore, the company and scientists have joined the industry group Meat & Livestock Australia to investigate whether the algae could be used to offset the methane emissions of Australian livestock.
