US Craft brewers hope for extension of beneficial excise duty for their sector.

As the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act, containing a lower excise duty expires end of December 31st. Craft brewers are watching closely if the measure will continue from January 2021. According to Colorado based Brewers Association and the Washington based national beer trade association Beer Institute, a higher tax is to begin January 1st. The two organizations are seeking an extension of the current lower federal tax and held a press conference with industry representation to deliver the message. The lower tax is seen as needed, specially under the pandemic circumstances, when many craft breweries were hit hard by on-trade lockdown restriction.
