South African female brewmaster using sorghum and rooibos

Entrepreneur Apiwe Nxusani-Mawela is looking to create a South African style of beer, Tolokazi craft beers and ciders, by using local hops and other ingredients (rooibos, sorghum). The brand takes the name after the women that brew traditional African beer, known as umqombothi. Her aim is “for people to come to South Africa and say they came and had the best most unique beer ever. … tasting beers that they have never had in their life before, and they couldn’t taste anywhere else in the world”.
