UK Grain traders forecast an increase in malting barley premiums, on the back of recovery from coronavirus lockdowns and a sharp fall in Spring Barley plantings in 2021. Grain merchants see a return of demand from brewers and distillers for malting barley, at pre-Covid levels at the same time as the AHDB Early Bird survey shows 700,000-750,000Ha of spring barley in 2021, down from 1,096,000Ha in 2020.
