Idaho ranks #1 in the US in terms of total barley production, and where approximately 70% of the produced barley is malting quality. Idaho farmers produced 55M bushels (1.2M tons) of barley from ~500,000 harvested acres. Yields ranges from 140 – 180 bushels/acre (3.2 – 4.0 tons per acre).
