The Kansas Hop Co started farming and harvesting hops in 2016, when they entered what was then a nonexistent market. For growing hops, there are a few limitations like sufficient daylight and heavier soil which are sizable challenges for growing quality hops in the State. However, Kansas farmers are proving innovative methods (e.g., drip irrigation and lights) to achieve hop crops with yields and quality the local breweries are seeking. A further example of local ingredients supporting craft breweries in their local connections with consumers.
