Malting barley production is helping to breathe new life into Ireland’s County Donegal,
with an important area being dedicated to a single winter variety, Craft. The project is a
cooperation between Boortmalt and the Devenney family, dating back to 2014 when the
potential to grow malting barley in the northwest was raised. From zero, the most recent
output of the project was 3.5k tons from 30 farmers.
