Evaluating transportation options to reduce carbon footprint

Transportation CO2 emissions often make up the largest portion of an individual’s carbon footprint (see graphic). Evaluating transport options is a logical approach, especially in the context of daily commuting and/or leisure trips abroad. The highest gCO2/ passenger km is a short haul flight (255gCO2), with international rail having the lowest gCO2/ passenger km (6gCO2).
