European Union released details of a fairer, greener and more performance-based EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) with a budget of €336B and benefiting 7M beneficiaries across Europe.

A major focus is centered upon climate action with some 40% of the budget targeted in this area, including greener farming practices like organic farming, crop rotation and the preservation of carbon-rich soils. A prioritization on financial support for small farms and younger farmers is part of the interventions, based on clear results and financial support based on adopting practices that are beneficial for the environment. All changes will take effect between 2023 and 2027.
