Carlsberg Malaysia is focusing on e-commerce and retail in order to revamp its sales efforts, following the Covid-19 impact including social control measures implemented by the Malaysian Government (most recent ones being implemented in January 2021). The e-commerce focus is justified by a 2.5 times volume growth registered during 2020, and the company is putting more emphasis in e-commerce platforms.
Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company CEO is calling on the UK government to extend the current financial support measures implemented during the pandemic. Further, once the lockdown measures are lifted, current VAT rates applied to food and drinks would apply to beer. Other proposed measures are focused on rebalancing the alcohol duty regime toward lower strength products. All these efforts are aimed to counter the pandemic impact on the beer and pub industry.
