Carlsberg – Sustainability News

Carlsberg’s 2020 sustainability report outlines how progress is being made towards its ZERO target. Between 2015 – 2019, carbon emissions were cut 7% across the total value chain, and 12% within brewery operations. By the end of 2020, eight breweries also achieved carbon neutrality.

Carlsberg Foundation granted DKK 19.5million for a project to develop climate tolerant plants with higher yields and better nutritional value. The project is run by Carlsberg Research Laboratory and Semper Ardens, together with several other partners.

Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Co is trying glass bottles with up to 90% lower carbon impact. The bottle is a cooperation with glass bottle supplier Encirc that uses 100% biofuel and increases recycled content of bottles to 100% while maintaining bottle quality. The supplier manufactured 1M bottles for the company.
