Briess family still malting barley after 145 years

The Briess family started malting barley in Czechoslovakia in 1876 and family members moved to the US in the 1930s to continue the tradition. The US beginning was with the Chilton (WI) Malt House that they eventually bought. In 2013 & 2014, Briess added the Ralston grain facility, and Manitowoc malting facility, formerly owned by AB InBev. Today, 50% of US craft brewers use Briess malt in some fashion and the company is expanding overseas clients.
