Boortmalt’s focus on distilling barley quality is growing in regard to crop contracts entered into with Irish growers. The company is contracting Wexford, UK growers to deliver 50% of their malting barley at below 9.8% protein. This represents an increase of 20 percent (from 30% to 50%) for the low-protein distilling quality requirement contracted.
