Boortmalt started production in their new 60k ton malting plant in Ethiopia, which is situated about 100 km from Addis Ababa. In conjunction with other local maltings, Ethiopia will be malt self-sufficient for the foreseeable future. From a local sourcing perspective, Boortmalt intends to procure malting barley from 40,000 smallholder farmers.
