A cargo of 35,000 tons of Australian malting barley was shipped in the middle January destined for Mexico, a market dominated by two main players: Grupo Modelo (part of AB InBev) and Cerveceria Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma (part of Heineken). This cargo follows approximately 90,000 tons shipped from Europe to Mexico in late 2020. The overall need is predicated by lower production in the local barley crop in 2020.
