Australian grain traders and farmers are targeting the African market as outlined recently in the Australian Export Grains Innovation Centre’s webinar for Ethiopian maltsters and brewers, and in cooperation with Barley Australia, Grain Trade Australia, and Grains Australia. Ethiopia is a predominately Christian nation with a rich history of brewing, and barley has been a major staple crop grown mainly in the highlands of the country. Beer growth in the country may outpace local barley production which could be an opportunity for Australia.
