South African Breweries (SAB), a subsidiary of AB InBev, announced that it would challenge the constitutionality of the alcohol ban (the 3rd such ban during the pandemic) in South Africa, by addressing the matter to country’s court. According to the papers, SAB sees this action “as the last resort available” to support temporary and strict alcohol regulations, not outright prohibition. As part of this action SAB has suspended a number of initiatives linked to the original terms of the ABI/SAB takeover.
