The extraordinary results of a 3D printed steel bridge in Amsterdam are a case in point. The MX3D bridge was the result of a project from a list of prestigious partners: Imperial College London, computing firm Lenovo, The Alan Turing Institute, and Arup engineers. According to Arup, the experiment opens a world of possibilities for architects, engineers and designers, promoting greater form freedom, with new forms and structures only possible through 3D printing.
