The ‘Holland on the Hill’ award establish by Heineken, honors an entrepreneur who has made a substantial and positive impact on the economic ties between the Netherlands and the United States. In 2021, the award goes to Arcadis CEO, Peter Oosterveer, during a ceremony on Capitol Hill. Arcadis is a global design and engineering firm, founded in 1888, known for its expertise in water management, flood protection, resiliency, sustainability, remediation and mobility. In the US, Arcadis consulted with officials from several states including Georgia, Louisiana, New York, on public health, flood protection and mobility issues. As an example, in 2012 Arcadis contributed to “Big U” plan designed to protect Manhattan from storm surges, following the dramatic impacts inflicted by Hurricane Sandy.
